AMA is proud to announce the launch of “Retracing Roots and Tracing New Routes: Mobility and Touring in North Africa,” the latest publication in its series of regional studies on arts mobility in Africa.
The new study is now available in two formats: e-Book and PDF for download.
The study provides:
– a mapping of spaces and organizations in North Africa that currently support artists’ and cultural actors’ mobility;
– an analysis of the obstacles inhibiting mobility to/from/within North Africa;
– country-specific information; and
– recommendations geared at supporting and strengthening mobility to/from/within the region.
First and foremost, the study is presented as a tool for artists and cultural operators. We hope it can provide inspiration and information for future initiatives geared at strengthening mobility in North Africa. It joins AMA’s three previous studies on mobility in East Africa (performing arts: 2012/visual arts: 2015) and Central Africa (2015).
The study was completed by researcher Lara Bourdin (Research coordinator for AMA) between December 2018 and April 2019, thanks to the generous support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
