Launched in 2011, AMA’s research program aims to address the vast gaps in knowledge and data surrounding the complex issue of mobility on the African continent. Designed to complement the mobility grants program, it develops specialized knowledge and information that can serve the needs of cultural operators, policymakers, advocates, artists and practitioners alike. All research projects are led by experts and in collaboration with practitioners and partners across the continent. Freely accessible and available for download online, they are used in capacity-building workshops, trainings and advocacy initiatives across the continent and beyond.
AMA’s Research program has two main streams:
- Mobility and touring in the African regions
- Guides to cultural mobility funding in Africa (with the coordination of On the Move and the support of the Institut français, 2020 edition)
