I participate din all the programmes organized by Durban FilmMart with financiers, film directors, producers, scriptwriters, etc. from Zanzibar, Tanzania, Mozambique, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Germany, Japan, etc. My observation and contribution to this discussion was to inform people about the Ethiopian film industry, which, in my experience and in contrast to other developing coutnries, is driven by local demand for entertainment rather than by development agency-funded or produced informational / educational film productions (documentaries).
I have reterned to Ethiopia and am determined to establish connections, use my observation and understanding of the DIFF to improve EIFF, use my contacts to promote Ethiopian films and film professionals internationally.
