Today, AMA grantee Kiki Cheptoo, dancer and choreographer based in Kenya, is traveling from Nairobi (Kenya) to Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) to attend the 4th edition of Engagement Féminin, a dance workshop organized by L’Art’ Dév/Compagnie Auguste-Bienvenue.
Launched in 2008 by choreographers Auguste Ouedraogo and Bienvenue Bazie, this project aims to contribute to the development of African contemporary dance in Burkina Faso and on the African continent, with a specific focus on the mentorship of female African dancers and choreographers.
The idea is to create a space where burgeoning African female dancers/choreographers from all over the continent will congregate to learn and share their knowledge and passion under the guidance of several qualified teachers and mentors in the field of African contemporary dance.
One of AMA’s main objectives is to encourage the mobility of artists and cultural professionals to exchange experiences, information and ideas in order to create a cultural network that will serve as a base for future collaborations.
AMA is therefore looking forward to see the outcomes of Kiki’s experience.
Good luck Kiki!
