Visa issues are one of the problems artists face when they are mobile across borders, in particular if they are non EU nationals willing to enter the EU. On the Move is exploring how cultural organisations supporting mobility (funders, organisers, venues…) can help non-EU artists overcome the difficulties they encounter when willing to enter the EU, and which message could be conveyed to the policy makers at the EU and national level to take into account the specific needs of artists and operators active across borders.
We need your help: as a first step we are collecting first-hand stories of artists and cultural operators based in non-EU countries who have experienced difficulties in getting a visa to enter the Schengen area in recent years. These stories will help shape a workshop with our members in November 2012, to define how intermediary organisations (e.g. venues inviting foreign artists, organisers of residency programs, etc.) can help ease artists’ mobility from the point of view of visa issues. The practical hints will feed into the Charter for a sustainable and responsible cultural mobility (to be published in early 2013 on OTM website), and into all the other activities that On the Move carries out with many supporters of mobility (including funding organizations and policy-makers). So your inputs will have a concrete impact!
The questionnaire is made up of two parts:
– part I includes general questions that apply to anyone dealing with visa procedures
– part II allows you to share the problems you might have experienced.
The survey is anonymous.
Please note that for the credibility and reliability of this survey, we encourage you to be as precise as possible in your answers. Thanks for your cooperation!
