AMA is thrilled to announce the grantees of Session 29 (October 2018-January 31 2019)!
Thanks to the generous support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AMA was able to allocate a budget of 14.000 euros to supporting 20 artists and cultural professionals for their travel projects within Africa. Please find all the information about the grantees, jury, and statistics of Session 29 below.

GRANTEES
Of the 173 eligible applicants, the following 20 artists and cultural professionals have been selected to receive an AMA mobility grant:
1. Slam poet and writer Meriem Bouraoui will be travelling from Algiers (Algeria) to N’Djamena (Chad) to compete and participate in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (November 5-11, 2018).
2. Gilbert Agbevide, coordinator of the theatre company KAdam-KAdam, will travel from Lomé (Togo) to Bamako (Mali) to develop the theatre project Arts-femmes (November 10-December 9, 2018).
3. Actress, producer and film writer Shirleen Wangari Kiura will travel from Nairobi (Kenya) to Johannesburg (South Africa) to showcase her feature film An African Tale at DISCOP Africa (November 14-16, 2018).
4. Malagasy dancers and choreographers Judith Olivia Manantenasoa and Ariry Andriamoratsiresy will travel from Antananarivo (Madagascar) to Kampala (Uganda) to perform and participate in the Tuzinne Festival (October 29-November 3, 2018).
5. Multidisciplinary artist Va-Bene Elikem Kofi Fiatsi (aka crazinisT artisT) will travel from Accra (Ghana) to Mindelo (Cabo Verde) to perform at the Mindelact Festival (November 2-12, 2018).
6. Slam poet Dolly Sorel Nwafo (aka Lydol) will travel from Yaoundé (Cameroon) to N’Djamena (Chad) to compete and participate in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (November 5-11, 2018).
7. Poet Tsion Fisseha Terefe will travel from Addis Abeba (Ethiopia) to N’Djamena (Chad) to perform and participate in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (November 5-11, 2018).
8. Sound engineer and music production manager Mohamed Hassan Mohamed Abdelhalem will travel from Cairo (Egypt) to Rabat (Morocco) to participate in Visa for Music 2018 (November 21-24, 2018).
9. Writer Faith Mutheu Matheka will travel from Nairobi (Kenya) to Abuja (Nigeria) to participate in the African Writers Conference (November 30-December 2, 2018).
10. The members of Senegalese band Sahad and the Nataal Patchwork, Yannick Proenca, Stachys Nzolani and Joon-ho Wantete, will travel from Dakar (Senegal) to Nairobi (Kenya) to perform and participate in ACCESS 2018 festival and conference (November 15-17, 2018).
11. Tanzanian musicians Amina Omar Semkiwa, Abdulrazak Abubakar Abdulrazak and Rahma Hassan Ameir, of Siti and the Band, will travel from Stonetown (Zanzibar, Tanzania) to Lagos (Nigeria) to participate in Felabration 2018! festival (October 15-21, 2018).
12. Liberian poet Ingel Sabrina Clay will travel from Monrovia (Liberia) to N’Djamena (Chad) to compete and participate in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (November 5-11, 2018).
13. Angolan spoken word poet Elisangela Rita will travel from Luanda (Angola) to N’Djamena (Chad) to compete and participate in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (November 5-11, 2018).
14. Documentary photographer Nneka Christiana Iwunna will travel from Lagos (Nigeria) to Addis Abeba (Ethiopia) to showcase her work at Addis Foto Fest (December 6-12, 2018).
15. Bassist, singer and songwriter Edith Katiji, of the Edith WeUtonga Band, will travel from Harare (Zimbabwe) to Bagamoyo (Tanzania) to perform and participate in the Bagamoyo Festival of Arts and Culture (October 20-27, 2018).
JURY
The eligible applications were evaluated by a jury made up of twelve artists, cultural operators and professionals who are experienced leaders in their respective fields and hail from eleven countries from all five African regions. They include writers, curators, a film and stage director, a dancer/choreographer, a music industry professional, and several cultural project managers.
