Documentary photographer Nneka Iwunna Ezemezue travelled from Lagos (Nigeria) to Addis Abeba (Ethiopia) to participate in Addis Foto Festival (December 5-11, 2018).
Nneka’s work explores themes relating to women, environment, gender, religion, tradition and socio-political issues. Her work has been exhibited on various platforms such as Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, Scotland (TNI.ACP), Goethe Institute Cultural Heritage Photography Masterclass, and LagosPhoto Canon Photo storytelling. She was nominated for Joop Swart Masterclass 2018 and shortlisted for the Contemporary African Photography prize 2018. Her vision is to bring positive change to the lives of people and catalyze social change by using photography to document humanity.
Addis Foto Fest (AFF) was established in 2010 by award-winning photographer and cultural entrepreneur, Aida Muluneh. Organized by Desta for Africa Creative Consulting PLC, AFF is a biennial international photography festival and is widely recognized as one of the leading photography festivals in Africa and the world. Nneka exhibited her photo series Left Behind, for which she received a grant fromt he Magnum Foundation Fund.
