Lydol (real name : Dolly Sorel Nwafo) travelled today from Yaoundé (Cameroon) to N’Djamena (Chad) to participate in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (5-10 November).
Passionate about poetry and writing, Lydol has been making her mark on Cameroon’s slam scene since 2010 – all the while working tirelessly to take her art form beyond the confines of the slam “scene.” She is the winner of several slam and poetry competitions both in Cameroon and internationally; regularly moderates workshops; organizes Science Slam Cameroon; and is the co-promoter of Slam’Up festival. She launched her first album, Slamthérapie, in April 2018. Her goal: “Tender to wounds with words.”
Lydol is an international guest performer at the African Cup of Slam Poetry, a major continental event that is inaugurating its first edition this year. The Cup will gather the winners of 40 national slam competitions from across Africa, giving them the opportunity to compete for the continental title. Participating in this first edition of the African Cup of Slam Poetry will give Lydol the chance to enrich her artistic approach and collaborate with other artists, share her experience in various workshops and panels, all the while networking with participants from all across the continent.
We wish Lydol an amazing time at the Cup and safe travels!
