Meriem Bouraoui is currently in N’Djamena, participating in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (5-10 November).
As a writer, a poet and a slam artist, Meriem Bouraoui whole-heartedly believes in the power of words to change the world. A graduate in English language and literature, she works as a writer and editor for Ineffable magazine, all the while making her mark on Algeria’s slam scene. Slam is for her a tool for affirming social justice, in Africa and across the world: in her words, to do away with “the subjugation of women, the mistreatment of men and the hunger of children”.
As the winner of the 2018 Algerian cup of slam poetry, she will be representing her country at the African Cup of Slam poetry, sharing the stage and competing for the continental title with the champions of 40 other African countries.
We wish Meriem much success at the Cup and a great stay in N’Djamena!
