Tsion Fisseha Terefe is currently in N’Djamena, participating in the African Cup of Slam Poetry (5-10 November).
Tsion is an emerging poetess and spoken word artist based in Addis Abeba. She can be found the first Saturday of every month at Poetic Saturdays, her city’s largest spoken word event. As a regular participant and community leader for the past several years, she has been cultivating her passion for words and exploring the power of spoken word as a vehicle for empowerment, therapy and nation-building.
As the winner of Ethiopia’s national spoken word competition in 2018, she will be representing her country at the African Cup of Slam poetry, sharing the stage and competing for the continental title with the champions of 40 other African countries.
